In 1993 Chipotle opened its first restaurant on East Evans Avenue in Denver, CO. Since then Chipotle has quickly grown into an innovative leader in the fast casual restaurant world. Chipotle’s Food with Integrity Program uses the very finest ingredients raised using sustainable practices. Sustainable design is also a key part of Chipotle’s architectural philosophy. Their Gurnee, IL store is the first restaurant ever to receive LEED Platinum Certification. John Sponseller worked for Chipotle for over 8 years as an Architect helping them to grow from a small startup to into an international company. Chipotle currently has over 1200 stores in 43 states with international locations in Canada, Great Britain, and France.
